On Wednesday, October 7, Commissioner Steve Novick, Portland Public Schools Board Member Mike Rosen, Portland Bureau of Transportation Director Leah Treat and other local dignitaries joined students and staff from Lent K-8 School in celebration of International Walk and Bike to School Day. Participants also celebrated ten years of PBOTs Safe Routes to School program successfully making walking and biking to school safer and easier for Portland students and families.

UTC Aerospace Systems today welcomed Airbus to its landing gear production facility in Oakville, Ontario, to celebrate two program milestones. As the supplier of the body and wing landing gear for the Airbus A380, the event commemorated the pending delivery of the 200th shipset of gear.

On October 1, more than 230 members of the standards and conformity assessment community gathered in Washington DC for the U.S. Celebration of World Standards Day 2015. Exhibition, reception, and dinner marking the occasion focused on the theme "Standards – The World’s Common Language." Festivities included presentation of the Ronald H. Brown Standards Leadership Award to electronics engineer and musician James Williamson, for his leadership in promoting the important role of standardization.

CN Rail celebrates planting of over 70,000 trees in Sackville

Canadian National Railway is partnering with Tree Canada and Community Forests International as part of their corporate commitment to reducing their environmental footprint. Every year across Canada, CN uses the equivalent of 600,000 trees for the replacement of aging railway ties and, as such, CN has undertaken to replant the trees they use across the country along the lines it services.
