Pacific Sunwear down on drop in same-store sales

Pacific Sunwear of California Inc. shares fell 18% in after-hours trading as the company posted its first quarterly decline in same-store sales in more than three years. The Anaheim, Calif.-based chain, which targets 17- to 24-year-olds with its casual apparel and footwear, said same-store sales for the quarter ended May 2 fell 2%.

Brown Shoe Co said the quarter exceeded its expectations, while Belk said investment expenses continue to impact earnings. Aeropostale booked a mixed quarter as losses narrowed but sales slid nearly 20%. New York & Co is optimistic it can return to profit in its next quarter after its losses widened.
