A great opportunity for an experienced Systems Engineer to join the Telespazio VEGA UK team working onsite at ESTEC, providing support to the ESTEC GNC Section for the development of space transportation GNC systems, including flight vehicles ranging from Expandable Launchers, Reusable Launch Vehicles RLVs as well as Ascenders and Landers for Exploration applications. Responsibilities Duties The successful candidate will be expected to Support the ESTEC GNC Section for the development of GNC systems for interplanetary and exploration spacecraft as well as GNC for space transportation systems. This comprises GNC for interplanetary cruise, aero assistance, rendezvous and docking, formation flying, or dragfree systems as well as GNC for ascent and reentry vehicles. Carry out specific tasks addressing the multi disciplinaryphysics and highfidelity End to End vehicle dynamics modelling with implementation in 6DoF simulation environments Matlab, Simulink, DSpace. Master advanced multivariable GNC design and verification approaches for the stability and performance robustness analysis is a prerequisite. Provide daily support and independent expert analyses to the development of ongoing and future orbiters and space transportation systems. Complete specific GNC design tasks including detailed dynamics, environment, actuator and sensor system modelling. Perform system sizing, requirements capture, architecture conception, advanced GNC design as well as performance and SW validation analyses. Support the conception of new highly autonomous systems, the development of realtime optimised guidance systems for launchers and reentry systems and the corresponding verification and validation techniques, including advanced analysis tools to drastically improve the gaps and shortcomings of current validation approaches. Provide regular Technical Reporting of the GNC Design and Analysis as well as contribute in the preparation and execution of project and technology studies reviews. Qualifications Experience Masters degree, or equivalent, in Control andor Aerospace engineering Essential Skills Familiarity with classical as well as modern control and filtering techniques Proven experience in the design, tuning, analysis and simulation of GNC systems in different project phases, and including Thrust Vector ControlAttitude Control Systems Proven knowledge of modern control design methods, commercial modelbased design tools MATLAB. The successful candidate will be providing technical support to ESA projects in the domain of Field Programmable Gate Array FPGA used in payloads and platforms of ESA missions of any ESA programme Navigation, Science, Earth Observation, Telecommunications, Human Space Exploration or Technology. Responsibilities Duties The successful candidate can expect to be involved in technical support such as Supervision of the endtoend development of new FPGAs throughout all the development phases specification, architectural design, detailed design, place and route, programming and device tests. Critical review of the technical documentation, design files, hardware test platforms and software used during the different phases of the FPGA developments. Providing technical feedback and advice to ESA and industry mission teams to help achieve successful and ontimeonbudget new FPGA developments and to solve problems related to already developed FPGAs. Leading andor providing support to research internal in ESTEC Microelectronics Laboratory andor external with companies contracted by ESA activities in the domain of FPGAs devices and their tool ecosystems for use in space environment.
