Overview The principle tasks and responsibilities include Provide support to the Agency in the thermal engineering design, analysis and verification area related to the sections thermal control activities. Provide support to ESA projects, including CDF activities, interface with the project team, interface if requested with the industrial team, participate in progress meetings and reviews, as requested by project work, and provide appropriate feedback on the achieved progress and discussions. Support the thermal control activities project support and RD activities of the Section in the area of hisher specialization. Build geometrical and thermal models, perform relevant analyses, evaluate critically the results and issue relevant documentation covering all work performed. Support the maintenance and upgrading of thermal mathematical models. Support thermal verification test campaigns for ongoing ESA projects by performingreviewing test procedures, test predictions and test correlations and attend the tests if required. Support ESA project reviews and the European standardization activities. In particular, specific tasks shall cover Support the development of advanced thermal analysis methods tools, e.g. general improvements related to algorithms, finite element based methods, data management and numerical analysis. Support the execution of advanced analyses, using standard thermal software, and development of relevant inhouse software utilities. Support the evaluation and validation of development activities related to thermal software tools. Support the execution of multidisciplinary analyses e.g. thermoelastic and general interface between structural and thermal models. Support the exchange and transfer of models between different thermal analysis tools, including the development, maintenance and verificationvalidation of data exchange software tools. Support the development of guidelines for the management of software and thermal models. Make regular progress reports. Provide adequate documentation, covering all tasks above. Specific qualification requirements Master degree in relevant discipline Thermal Engineering or equivalent. Background in analysis methods, numerical analysis, data management and a general knowledge of space thermal engineering. Very good knowledge of Agencys thermal analysis tools, e.g. ESATANTMS, EcoSim Pro, CFDRC, Flow3D. Very good background and experience in thermal modelling and analysis as well as thermal spacecraft design and verification. Very good background and knowledge of spacecraft system aspects. Knowledge of other CAE tools such as IDEASTMG, Thermica. Experience in development of software products. Knowledge of the STEPTAS data exchange protocol and software libraries. Proficient in the English Language Spoken and Written. Legal and Security Requirements All applicants must be legally allowed to work in The Netherlands Applicants are required to provide a copy of their passport and degree certificate.
