Spun yarn prices are falling across the board in India after polyester fiber prices have been sharply lowered in only three weeks. 100% polyester has heavily dropped and 100% cotton has also been cut in Tirupur, Ludhiana or Bhiwandi, although cotton prices have stayed firm. Our weekly review of Indian yarn prices covers the domestic and export markets, including carded and combed cotton, poly-cotton, poly-viscose, 100% polyester and 100% viscose. Cotton prices have stayed at their currently low level in the past week, over a lack of demand from spinners who are primarily trying to reduce their stocks, also anticipating prices to stay very weak in the coming season. Global cotton stocks at the end of 2019-20 have been raised by the US Department of Agriculture (USDA) in its latest monthly report. Yarn import prices were Tuesday rising in China after declining in the last ten days by contrast. Spun polyester prices are now dropping after February average prices have however increased, as reflected by our monthly data. China's yarn imports from India have surged in January, according to Chinese customs.
