China's cotton yarn imports could also be depressed by the dropping currency, after India's cotton yarn exports have rebounded. Spun yarn prices have not moved in the past seven days in China where fiber prices have remained similarly unchanged. Domestic spinners are no more threatened by yarn imports on their market, as a result of the fall of the renminbi. Import prices have even begun declining in dollar terms. Our weekly report covers the China yarn domestic and import market indicators, as well as local market prices in Qianqing and Shaoxing (Zhejiang). Cotton prices have rebounded at the end of last week, over anticipations of a sharply lower US production in the next season than initially expected, due to persistent drought in Texas and Oklahoma. Cotton prices have surged to new highs in Pakistan whereas also further rising in India where exports have been boosted by Beijing's decision to apply 25% additional tariffs on US cotton.
