Cotton futures have last Friday surged in New York to levels which had not been seen for years. Demand remains very strong for US cotton but also for Indian origins which are now cheaper on the international market, thanks to the current weakness of the rupee. Cotton prices are staying very firm on domestic markets in China, India and Pakistan. Our weekly cotton report covers the international futures market in New York and China, and the physical indicator "A Index". Domestic cotton prices in China, India and Pakistan are also reviewed through a large number of tables and charts. All data are available for download.

After staying frozen for about two months, spun yarn prices have begun moving into different directions in the last seven days in China, with polyester yarn rising and viscose yarn falling. Cotton yarns have remained unchanged in the meantime. Our weekly report covers the China yarn domestic and import market indicators, as well as local market prices in Qianqing and Shaoxing (Zhejiang). Prices of a large number of counts are released for spun cotton, polyester, viscose and blends. Import prices are also available for yarns from India, Indonesia, Pakistan, and Vietnam. Cotton yarn prices have further declined on Pakistan's domestic market, in line with a fall in demand for combed cotton yarns. Export prices have not been reduced, however.
