MDEQ lifts one water contact advisory for the Mississippi Sound, but not two others

The Mississippi Department of Environmental Quality has lifted a water contact advisory in Ocean Springs for Front Beach from the Yacht Club to Jackson Avenue. However MDEQ still has an advisory in place in Ocean Springs for Shearwater Beach from Weeks Bayou to Ashley.

Questions Arise After MDEQ Email Release

An email from the Michigan Department of Environmental Quality to a top adviser in Governor Snyder's office calls his attention to the uptick in cases of Legionnaires' disease in Flint. MDEQ Spokesman Brad Wurfel says there are more cases of Legionnaires' in one year than in the last five years or more combined.

Subpoenas served to Snyder, MDEQ in class-action lawsuits filed in water crisis

Subpoenas for records were served to Gov. Rick Snyder, the governor's office and the Michigan Department of Environmental Quality on Jan. 25. The records include emails, text messages or other documents sent or received by Snyder, his staff, or the emergency managers Darnell Early, Michael Brown, Gerald Ambrose or Edward Kurtz relating to the Flint River as a water source from Jan. 1, 2011 to the present. One of the lawsuits was filed in a federal court in November.

MDEQ investigates Lorraine Road Bridge site

Investigators with the MS Department of Environmental Quality are putting the Lorraine Road bridge construction site under the microscope. A video sent to WLOX allegedly taken at the site has attracted the investigation.

MDEQ lifts beach closure

Swimming and wading near Gulf Coast beaches is safe again after Mississippi Department of Marine Resources tests near the shore found none of the bacteria that had shut down beaches and oyster reefs alike. The Mississippi Department of Environmental Quality lifted the Gulf Coast-wide beach closure on Friday.
