Role Description Summary The Platform Services Engineer provides leadership and expertise for the implementation and operations of the SES Networks global platform infrastructure, ensuring platforms are deployed and maintained in the most efficient manner to provide the highest level of customer satisfaction. Primary ResponsibilitiesKey Result Areas Lead joint Product Development and Product Engineering teams to design, test, and implement new platform solutions Lead efforts to ensure active Incidents are actioned utilizing a Follow the Sun support methodology Serve as a point of escalation to our 24x7 NOC to insure Incidents are resolved in a timely manner in accord with SLA commitments Ensure Incident Management ticketing system is updated with correct resolutions and closure codes to promote continual improvement of the troubleshooting process Ensure SES Networks platforms are properly reporting to Event management systems Develop and document procedures for platform operations and maintenance Plan and perform routine preventative maintenance to ensure proper operation of platform components Represent the Platform Services team on the Change Advisory Board and suggests process changes as needed Ensure all changes to platform infrastructure adhere to established Change Management processes Defines, develops, and tracks metrics to ensure that SES Networks platforms are optimized for performance and efficiency Maintain Master Platform Record MPR which captures all relevant technical information for all primary and 3rd party teleport platforms Maintain monthly figures of platform utilization Publish platform utilization data to allow for making informed decisions on platform growthreductionestablishment Who We Are Looking For More About You In order to achieve the outcomes described above, we believe you will have the following SkillsCompetencies Excellent analytical and problemsolving skills Ability to work under pressure and with little or no supervision Ability to work well in a crossfunctional team environment Excellent oral and written communication skills Maintain good working relationships with various internal and external parties Commitment to exceed customer expectations and continuously find ways to improve the customers experience with SES Networks Preferred Education Experience a combination of education and experience will be considered Bachelors Degree in an engineering discipline 10 years of experience in satellite network implementation, monitoring, and troubleshooting. Preferred Qualifications Thorough understanding of key VSAT and HTS platform technologies including Comtech HEIGHTS, iDirect Evolution and Velocity, Gilat SkyEdge and others, and how they interface with IP networks. Thorough understanding of the challenges in delivering IP services over VSAT in maritime and aero mobility environments, including understanding of mobile antenna systems and beamswitching methodologies. Understanding of and experience dealing with FAPVolumebased billing systems. Strong understanding of earth station design and engineering techniques as related to GEO and MEO satellite operations. Knowledge of standard earth station equipment, such as antennas systems, HPAs, frequency converters and baseband equipment.
