STONY BROOK, NY, September 26, 2014 - Stony Brook University showcased the construction progress of its new Stony Brook Children's Hospital facility during a ceremony yesterday where President Samuel L. Stanley Jr., M.D., was joined by public officials, generous donors, young patients and their families, and hundreds of administrators, physicians and staff. The new facility, which will have 100 beds and occupy two stories of a new 10-story Hospital Pavilion, is slated to open in 2016.

Researchers at the Max Planck institute in Germany have discovered large quantities of organic molecules at the center of the Milky Way that resemble life-bearing amino acids in their complexity. The new-found presence of this complex organic molecule, iso-propyl cyanide, is a good indicator that amino acids themselves are floating throughout the interstellar medium. If this is indeed the case, it in turn suggests that these wandering amino acids may have played a vital role in the synthesis of life on other planets in the galaxy.

After makeover, Niagara St. building becoming classic car dealership

When the owner of River Front Auto Sales completes renovations of an old building on Niagara Street in Buffalo, the site will become a new dealership for selling classic cars. Marty Pecoraro Sr. said when he bought 1357 Niagara Street about five years ago, he had rented it out.
