Senior Antenna RF Design Engineer

Airbus Defence and Space is a division of Airbus Group formed by combining the business activities of Cassidian, Astrium and Airbus Military. It employs some 40,000 employees generating revenues of approximately 14 billion per year. A vacancy for a Senior RF Antenna Engineer has arisen within Airbus Defence Space in Stevenage. You will be a member of a dynamic centre of competence CoC for the provision of innovative, worldclass antenna solutions for a large multinational satellite company. You will design, manage and deliver RF Antenna Systems for Satellite applications. The Antenna CoC is assigned the responsibility to provide the Airbus DS antenna expertise to the company programmes. The group has responsibility for the provision of antennas and the definition of company research development in the field of antenna technologies. The Antennas represent key technology within the spacecraft product and are highly complex having unique technical requirements high launch stress and cryogenic temperatures, that extend across many disciplines. The successful candidate will be subject to UK National Security Clearance in order to undertake related work in accordance with business needs. Your main tasks and responsibilities will include RF design, analysis and verification of satellite antennas using in house and proprietary software packages. Participation in, and management of proposal activities. RF analysis of antenna performance in the space environment thermal and manufacturing distortions, scattering, coupling and other interactions with the spacecraft and the other antennas on it. Tradeoff studies of antenna concepts for satellite applications. Contributing to innovative RD programmes. Provision of RF support to the manufacture of antennas and their components. Provision of RF support to the test of antenna feed chains and antenna assemblies. Active involvement in integrated design team including support to drawing office, mechanical and thermal design. Generating presentation material for design reviews and presenting material at meetings. Attendance at and contributions to seminars and conferences. This role will involve some travel for business and as such you must be able to travel accordingly. We are looking for candidates with the following skills and experience Master in Microwave or RF engineering or Electrical engineering, mathematics or physics graduate, minimum 21. Experience of working in a Space environment. Experience in Antennas. Experience of Project Management. Understand and appreciate the antenna significance within satellite applications. Knowledge of the following tool would be appreciated POS. Ability to work in a team environment. Demonstrable verbal and written communication skills good presentation skills. Ability to translate requirements into physical design. Fluent in English, French German language skills desirable. You will be responsible for maintaining a high degree of CAD competence in spacecraft design accommodation including Detailed Design within an engineering group or Project team environment. You will provide engineering design support on bids, studies project work. You will liaise with internal external customers in the product groups business units. You will be an integral part of a small Team of Design Engineers supporting a Principal Designer. The successful candidate will be subject to UK National Security Clearance in order to undertake related work in accordance with business needs. Your main tasks and responsibilities will include To work within a concurrent engineering Project team reporting to the MDO Group leader. To liaise with stress, thermal mechanical subsystem groups having a good appreciation of their work. Carry out DMU design accommodation activities given a detailed toplevel requirement specification with little or no guidance. Responsible for the creation, control, correctness accuracy of all drawings, models, Digital Mock Up DMU, bills of materials engineering change notes as related to the configured items for allocated projects to cost schedule. Ensuring all outputs from the Mechanical Design Office MDO is correct to the project requirements as stated by the core team generally the Mechanical Architect Responsible Engineer. All the project DO outputs must be checked, signed stamped by the MDO lead design engineer to the checklists CATIA procedures. Administer the release of drawings, BOMs ECOs related to the allocated project. Provide support to other general DO activities, e.g. Process improvements, bids etc. We are looking for candidates with the following skills and experience Minimum requirement of HND in an Engineering discipline. Excellent working knowledge experience of CATIA V5. Strong Engineering technical background in Design Manufacturing in the Aerospace industry. Experience of VPM3DCOM.
