CGIs space team is growing rapidly and has a particular need for a technical project manager to run a variety of Earth Observation projects. The technical project manager is responsible for delivering their projects to an agreed baseline, while managing project finances, reporting, schedule and risks. This will require direct interaction with the client, endusers and partner organisations, so presentational and interpersonal skills are important. As well as managing project teams, the candidate will also take a handson role in tasks such as proposal writing, user requirements gathering, documentation, client presentations, testing and acceptance. As such it is important to have excellent communication skills and a high degree of technical rigour. Essential Skills University degree or equivalent qualification in a technical discipline e.g. Science, Engineering or Computer Science Strong project management skills and the ability to complete complex tasks with minimal guidance and to work and cooperate with others Proven project management track record, including risk and issue management Excellent client facing and writtenverbal communication skills Experience developing applications and services to exploit EO data. Highly Desirable Experience of working with ESA, especially within programmes such as DUE, VAE, IAP. Knowledge of Earth Observation concepts and familiarity with the Earth Observation datauser community Knowledge of ESA and Third Party Earth Observation satellite missions This role is based in Leatherhead and will require full time attendance at our Leatherhead offices. This role includes the opportunity for some occasional international travel to client sites, especially within Europe. Starting salaries depend on the current level of expertise and experience. The successful applicants will have the following skills and experience Educated to Degree Level or equivalent in an engineering IT Essential Experience Must be an experienced engineer, with a successful track record of leading complex softwarehardware product development, integration and qualification Must have experience of systems design implementation for data communications products in commercial or military environments. Must have experience of embedded software development utilising bespoke hardware. Must be familiar with process driven software development Must have experience of the full project lifecycle. Essential Skills Must be highly selfmotivated, articulate, with good verbal and written communications skills Must have an excellent understanding of work package definition, estimation and planning Must have excellent team leadership skills, with evidence of skills in negotiation and conflict resolution Desirable Skills Experience of cryptographic product development Experience of Requirements Management e.g. using DOORS.
