Summary VEGA have an outstanding opportunity to provide the support to Herschel Space Telescopes users. Objective An experienced technical author needed to develop documentation and training material for the Herschel Interactive Processing Environment HIPE, a data analysis and visualisation application developed by ESA. Responsibilities Duties Maintenance and development of HIPE documentation in DocBook. Coordination of Editorial Board activities. Organisation of telecons and facetoface meetings. Liaising with the developer of the Help System. Steering and prioritising development according to user needs. Maintenance and development of documentation on the Heschel Science Centre TWiki. This includes documentation aimed at internal developers, other members of the Editorial Board and external users and contributors. Development and maintenance of Known Issues and Whats New pages for each HIPE version. Monitoring and replying to user comments on HIPE documentation pages and TWiki pages. Maintenance of a Twitter account with news and tips about HIPE. Development of video tutorials and maintenance of the HIPE dedicated YouTube channel. Qualifications Experience Degree level qualification in physics, astronomy or space science or similar Good demonstrated experience of writing software documentation API documentation experience Experience writing content for wikis, in particular TWiki. Essential Skills Ability to write clear, concise and correct English. Good knowledge of DocBook. Good knowledge of Java and Jython. Ability to develop video tutorials, including knowledge of video recording software such as Camtasia Studio. Working knowledge of CVS. Desirable Skills Knowledge of HTML, CSS and JavaScript. Qualities Good communication skills. Strong organization skills. Team leading skills.
