We are currently looking for a Catia Design Engineer to support our customer in Germany. Catia Design Engineer Key Tasks and Responsibilities Our customer is a European leader in exciting and technologically sophisticated projects in the areas of space transportation and satellites. You will be working onsite as Catia Design Engineer. Your tasks will include Establishing of design proposals in 3D Implementation of modifications Generation and update of documentation drawings and partslists Update of interface drawings and interface specifications Interfacing with members of the system engineering team. Skills Experience You will have the following qualifications and relevant experience University degree in Mechanical Engineering or another relevant discipline Mechanical design experience, preferably in the aeronautical or space field Extensive knowledge of Catia V5 Experience in manufacturing and lightweight construction Fluency in English is mandatory, knowledge of another European language is an advantage. A vacancy has arisen for a Principal Catia Design Engineer with Astrium in Stevenage. As a Principle Engineer in the Mechanical Design Office, you will carry out Lead Designer activities for Propulsion Systems and Electrical Harness Routing design tasks. You will aslso oversee day to day activities for a small team of Design Engineers ensuring all customer requirements are supported. The key responsibilities of the role are as follows Responsible for the control, correctness, accuracy and relevance of all drawings, models, Digital Mock Up DMU, bills of materials and Engineering Change Notes as related to the configured items for allocated projects to cost and schedule Ensuring all outputs from the Mechanical Design Office MDO are correct to the project requirements as stated by the core team generally the Responsible Engineer Authorised design signatory for manufacturing drawings, BoMs and ECOs related to the allocated project Specific responsibility for the estimation and planning of Design Office related activities and manpower requirements to meet those tasks. Allocation of manpower is sought through the line management Supervision and mentoring of other Design Office engineers working on the project Provide support to other general DO activities, e.g. Process improvements, bids etc. Work with CAD experts to develop and maintain tubing processes and best practices as the company moves towards Catia V6 Work with the CAD expert to ensure process and best practice are in place for electrical harness design The successful candidate will demonstrate the following skills and experience Excellent working knowledge and experience of CATIA V5 Strong Engineering and Technical background HND or equivalent in an Engineering discipline Desirable Management of a small team Managing work packages, dealing with budgets and headcount requirements Experience of VPM 3Dcom Background in Aerospace other industries considered Experience of tubing with Catia V5 Experience of EHi and CATelectre within Catia V5 TO APPLY click here

The successful candidate will be responsible maintaining a high degree of CAD competence in spacecraft design, working within a transnational engineering group or project team environment.
