Our German activities grow at fast pace and to face our costumers high level expectations and needs, we are looking for talented profiles having relevant experience in Space systems The Key Person will be a member of a multidisciplinary engineering team supporting operational and future programmes. A core activity will be the maintenance and evolution of LEOGEO data and product processing systems. The EPS Ground Segment monitors and controls EUMETSATs LEO METOP satellites and processes all data from its instrument payload, the GEO MSG and MTP Ground Segments monitor and control the Meteosat satellites and processes all data from its instruments and the Jason 2 ground segment processes all data from the instruments onboard of Jason satellites. All Ground Segments have specific facilities for Spacecraft monitoring and control, product generation and distribution and product quality control and calibration and validation activities. The EPS Quality Control Facility QCF and CalibrationValidation Facility CVF are responsible for the monitoring of the quality, the calibration and validation of the products generated by the EPS Core Ground Segment CGS. PROFILE Mandatory Attributes, Skills and Experience In addition to having a University degree or equivalent in a relevant discipline, the Key Person shall have the following mandatory attributes, skills and experienced. Experience in system design, SW development, operation, maintenance and trouble shooting of large complex realtime data processing systems for Earth Observation missions. The engineer should possess very good communication, presentation and team working skills and be able to cope with very high workloads. Moreover heshe should possess the following mandatory attitudes and attributes relevant for the development of hisher tasks Ability to learn and develop the needed skills and knowledge to contribute to the development of Data Processing applications within the Supporting Application Engineering Team. This includes the ability to rapidly absorb, and make use of, information presented in written and oral communications in a dynamic context Willingness to work within a multidisciplinary context in cooperation with other teams. The ability to maintain a system overview is essential. Heshe shall have a systematic approach to work, be able to plan their work and to cope with tight schedules and multiple tasks. They shall have the capability to write accurate and consistent technical documentation. The official languages of EUMETSAT are English and French. The working language for the position is English and therefore the Key person must be able to work effectively in this language and have knowledge of the other. TASKS EXPERIENCE As a member of the SEP Data Processing System Applications and Tools Group and in particular the Supporting Applications Engineering team, the engineer shall support the maintenance and evolution of the EPS Ground Segment, specifically the QCF and the CVF, of off line Ground Segment elements, specifically for quality control, calibration and validation, data visualisation and auxiliary data management and services. The application software is mainly developed in CC, PERL, and Python. For data visualisation a good knowledge in IDL and ENVI is desirable. The Key Persons duties will include a range of tasks, from the support of the day to day operation and maintenance, the analysis, design, development and testing of the facilities which also includes the handling of anomalies, upgrades and configuration changes for these facilities. The Key Person will be the focal point when it comes to integrating each individual Facility into a system context, covering all aspects from early SW development, definition of interfaces, system integration and testing, and end to end testing of the production system. Tasks will also contain the settingup and implementation of maintenance policies and procedures as well as the coordination with external providers of maintenance services. In support to operations, the Key Person may also be required to provide on call support as part of a team of maintenance engineers. Besides the above described routine tasks, the Key Person will also be expected to contribute to design and system engineeringreengineering activities in the area of expertise for existing and future production systems. Candidate areas are programmes such as, MTG, EPSSG, Jason, Saral, EARS, Sentinel 3, etc. Typically tasks will include 1. Contribute to the definition, design, implementation and maintenance of architectures for data processing ground segments and their components with special emphasis on product quality control, calibration and validation, production monitoring and reporting. This task will mainly include 1.1. Maintenance and development of the QCF and CVF framework software 1.2. Configuration Management, building and distribution of QCFCVF software releases and patches 1.3. Contribution to QCFCVF software system design and reengineering 1.4. Support to the development and implementation of QCF and CVF tools e.g. in IDLCCFortran 2. Support the operations of existing data processing ground segments and their maintenance and evolution e.g. QCF and CVF. This will also include Upgrade software, including implementing and maintaining new algorithms for product quality control and calibrationvalidation activities. 3. Perform routine tasks in operational systems under configuration control such as 3.1. Support the Configuration Management process and the building and distribution of software releases and patches 3.2. Support to the development, integration and configuration management of software developed by third parties, its installation, and configuration and testing 3.3. Anomaly investigations, documentation and classification. 3.4. Follow up of the delivery of SW resolutions for these anomalies 4. Perform standard SW engineering activities such as 4.1. SW testing in a structured approach to verify that delivered SW is fulfilling the requirements or to demonstrate that problems have been corrected. 4.2. SW integration and verification in the EUMETSAT ground segments 5. Settingup and implementation of maintenance policies and procedures, 6. Support to the procurement and installation of software, and the coordination with external providers of support services 7.
