We are looking for a software tester with experience in all phases of testing during the software development life cycle for the support of the development and maintenance of Air Traffic Control related software systems. These are fulltime and unlimited positions located on our customer side at DFS in Langen, Germany. For this position you can choose to work either as fulltime employee or as Freelancer. Responsibilities Duties The Test Engineer is working in a team and is responsible for the complete testing process of a specific functionality within the development cycle of a new software release from the requirements analysis to the test development and test execution. Develop test criteria and test components from the software requirements, also in cooperation with the responsible developers. Develop test cases and test procedures unique, clear and repeatable based on the identified test components. Create all data necessary test data, testing tools and define scenarios that are necessary to execute the tests. Organise and participate in test readiness reviews Execute formal tests with the customer and document the results Document problems and issues that have been discovered during testing using an issue tracking system and support retesting based on fixed problems Support the customer in technical meetings, discussions and questions on testing approaches, and propose solutions and improvements based on latest techniques and applicable technical standards Qualifications Experience A university degree in aerospace, informatics, mathematics or physics. At least 3 years of experience in testing of software systems during the whole software development life cycle is required. ISTQB Foundation Level Certification is desirable. Tasks and Responsibilities The candidate will be required to develop Controller Working Positions CWP software modules and documentation changes from specification to design, coding and testing in collaboration with the project team members. The domains that the HMI Software Engineer will cover are multiple in particular tasks are expected to include the following activities Develop software modules for the CWP. This includes designing, developing, maintaining and providing support on applications in the areas of data processing and HMI application Perform modifications to source code, documentation and test suite Review request for changes, clarify the understanding of the intention, perform prototyping where necessary, and create unambiguous software specifications Analyse modifications required to source code, documentation and test suite, and define test scope, to implement problem fixes and changes Perform and document tests in line with test scope defined before Arrange review of own source code, documentation and test result by peers Review source code, documentation, test suite changes and test results performed by peers Perform investigation of incidents and problems and provide solutions Debrief on the status of work and potential technical and schedule problems Execute tasks in accordance with governing quality, safety and security management procedures. Experience and Education Completed professional technical education in Computer Science or Information Technology, or equivalent professional knowledge is essential At least 3 years experience developing large scale 100 kSLOC operational HMI software, preferably in a Unix environment is essential At least 3 years experience using modern C, including C11, template and preferably metaprogramming is essential Experience in developing and maintaining software and documentation in accordance with recognized industrial quality and safety standards SWAL 3 or equivalent is essential Fluency in English language is mandatory Ability to identify, analyse and solve problems and to present key issues and possiblerecommended solutions in a clear, structured and concise way Cooperates and works well in a team At least 3 years experience with the ODS Toolbox or equivalent HMI framework. Ericsson network software fault leads to mobile service disruptions in multiple countries

(Telecompaper) Ericsson has admitted a fault in its network software has caused major mobile service outages in "multiple countries". The company said the problem is thought to be due to an expired software certificate and it's taken "immediate action" to minimize impact and support the restoration of services. A "limited number" of its network operator customers were affected, Ericsson said in a statement. These are thought to include O2 UK and Softbank in Japan.
