Ondemand, the activity may be performed onsite at our customer premises at Darmstadt. The key person will integrate a team of software engineers under the direction of the project manager in CS GmbH. This activity includes, among others, the following tasks Contribution to Model Based Systems Engineering Contribution to Cyber Security activities Support to RD initiatives Software development and maintenance of space data systems and infrastructure setup Support to technical meetings with customers Contribution to test and validation activities Requirements Any knowledge and experience in software development or maintenance in the ESA space environment would be an important asset. Academic background The Key person shall have M.Sc. in Computer Science Engineer, Telecommunications Engineer or equivalent. At least 3 year experience as software developer Technical skills Good knowledge in MBSE Good knowledge in Cyber Security Good knowledge in Artificial Intelligence Good knowledge in CICD, orchestration and DevOps tools Good knowledge in VMWare, GitLabGerrit and other development environment tools Good knowledge in the use and operation of Docker and container orchestration technologies e.g. Swarm and Kubernetes Good knowledge of ESOC operational environment Good knowledge of Spacecraft especially in simulation Knowledge of ESOC infrastructure e.g. Scos2000, SIMSAT, SIMULUS Knowledge of Standards Engineering and Quality Knowledge in UnixLinuxwindows environments Knowledge in configuration management such as SVN GIT Others skills Very good communication skills Proficiency in English language High level of flexibility Good organisation Ability to work autonomously in a challenging environment.

Two positions are currently available one focused on MCS i.e. S2K, EGSCC, EGOSCC and one other in Simulation SIMSAT, SIMULUS This activity includes, among others, the following tasks Support simulation activities for ESA space missions based on SIMSAT e.g. HERA, MTG and GAL CSIM projects Support mission control systems for various ESA missions based on S2K e.g. Aeolus MCS, BIOMASS MCS, FLEX MCS Migration of EO missions to EGOSCC and preparation of future EO EGOSCC missions Software development and maintenance of space data systems Support to technical meetings with customers Intensive test and validation activities Requirements Any knowledge and experience in software development or maintenance in the space environment would be an important asset. Whilst the candidate will primarily work in the UK, they will interact extensively with a larger team in Astroscales Japan Office and may be required to travel to Tokyo as needed in support of Astroscale projects and operations. Responsibilities Design, develop, validate and maintain Ground Segment SW subsystems needed for operating Astroscale missions. Also, to develop small tools required for operating of the missions. Generate and update the SW related documentation. Participate in the design of the systems including Requirements capture, definition, tailoring, analysis and conversion to use cases and stories. Development support and solution testing. Participate and or support the Ground Segment verification, validation and integration. Support in the Mission System Test and or Simulation campaigns. Support the Operations team to resolve technical issues and providing advice on best practice. Essential Skills University degree in Computer Science, Telecommunications, or other relevant engineering discipline. Minimum 3 years of industry experience in software development and software engineering. Minimum 3 years of industry experience in the design and development of satellite user or ground segment products and technologies. Knowledge of CC, Java and or Python programming languages. Basic Linux system administration, shell scripts, make, etc. Development on Linux systems. Experience with Mission Control Systems, preferably based on SCOS2000. Overall knowledge of the main components of a ground segment and how they interact between them. Work in a team as well as independently. Knowledge in project life cycle and acceptance procedures. Knowledge of ECSS standards. Desired Skills 5 years of industry experience in software development and software engineering. 5 years of industry experience in the design and development of satellite user or ground segment products and technologies. SPECIFIC TASKS Contribute to the establishing of the programmatic and technical software PA requirements within the framework of the ESA Software policy. Evaluate Contractors plans, technical specifications and efforts proposed for the execution of the software product assurance programme. Monitor and evaluate software product analyses, reports and technical notes. Handson experience with static code analysis and tools. Alternative software development life cycles, continuous integration and tools. Fluency in English both written and spoken is mandatory knowledge of another European language is an advantage.
