Cascades to sell five Canadian plants to U.S. packaging company

Cascades Inc. has reached an agreement for the sale of its North American boxboard manufacturing and converting assets to Graphic Packaging Holding Company for $44.9 million. Cascades' president and CEO Mario Plourde says the divestment is part of the company's commitment to focus on sectors in which it excels.

Canadian home sales activity stable in November, but 2014 better than expected

Canadian home-selling activity was flat in November compared with October, but the real estate industry's main association says annual sales in 2014 and 2015 will be slightly higher than previously forecast. The Canadian Real Estate Association says prices for resale homes continued to rise between October and November but at a slower pace for all property types that it tracks.
