NIST Lab Building renamed for Katharine Blodgett Gebbie.

On Dec. 10, 2015, the most advanced laboratory building at the NIST campus in Boulder, CO, was renamed after legendary NIST laboratory director Katharine Blodgett Gebbie. Currently a NIST senior advisor, Gebbie is an astrophysicist by training and has worked for NIST for more than 45 years. She directed 2 large NIST operating units of several hundred researchers each. Under her leadership, NIST staff won 4 Nobel Prizes in Physics from 1997–2012 as well as 2 MacArthur Fellowships.
