German engineering group Siemens missed expectations for fourth-quarter core profit, hurt by charges for faulty wind turbines that pushed its wind power division to a loss. Siemens, one of Germany's biggest companies and a major exporter of goods from trains to turbines to hospital equipment, posted total sectors profit up 28 percent to 2.2 billion euros , missing the average estimate of 2.25 billion euros in a Reuters poll.

Siemens net profit up 40 percent, outlook cautious

Industrial equipment maker Siemens AG says net profit rose 40 percent in the fourth quarter but issued a cautious outlook for the coming year, saying global tensions would affect its business and predicting flat revenue. Siemens also said Thursday it was selling its hearing-aid business to the investment company EQT and Germany's Struengmann family of entrepreneurs for 2.15 billion euros.

Siemens seen picking EQT for hearing aids next week

Siemens is likely to pick EQT next week to buy its hearing aids unit for about 2 billion euros , two sources familiar with the matter said. Private equity firm Permira, which had been interested, is now out of the race, another source close to the matter said.
