Telefonica sells 2,029 towers in Ecuador and Colombia to Phoenix Tower for EUR 290 million

(Telecompaper) Telefonica has continued its strategy of monetising infrastructure assets by selling 2,029 towers in Ecuador and Colombia to Phoenix Tower International (PTI) for around EUR 290 million. In total, Telefonica Ecuador sold 1,408 towers for EUR 202 million while Telefonica Colombia sold a further 621 towers for EUR 87 million, complementing other tower disposals executed earlier in the year.

1&1 Drillisch to lease 2.6GHz band spectrum from Telefonica to start 5G network

(Telecompaper) Telefonica Deutschland has agreed to lease spectrum to 1&1 Drillisch to help the latter set up its own 5G network. 1&1 will lease 2x10 MHz in the 2.6 GHz band from Telefonica until the end of 2025, when its own frequencies in the 2GHz band won in the auction earlier this year will be available for use.
Telefonica names new Latin America team, looks to 'maximise value' of Hispam unit

(Telecompaper) Telefonica has approved the organisational structure of the new Hispam unit created to hold its Latin American business (apart from Brazil). The unit will be headed by Alfonso Gomez, currently responsible for Hispam Norte, who as CEO will report to the company's Director of Finance and Control Laura Abasolo, who has been named Telefonica Hispam president.
