U.S. home resales fell more than expected in October, with large declines in regions which have experienced the biggest price gains, suggesting some softening in the pace of the housing market recovery after strong gains early this year. (Telecompaper) Smartphones sales totaled 7 million devices in the third quarter in Russia, down by 5 percent year-on-year, reports Tdaily.ru citing a study from the mobile retail chain Euroset. Sales revenue jumped by 16 percent to RUB 70 billion. The average retail price of a smartphone sold increased by 22 percent to RUB 9,700, the first increase in five years. Sales in units totaled 18 million in January-September, down by 6 percent. The peak of the decline was in March-April. The penetration of Android devices grew to 86 percent. Russian mobile retail chain Svyaznoy said that smartphones sales dropped by 3 percent in volume in the third quarter, while revenues increased by 13 percent.

Guardian: Volkswagen car sales fell worldwide last month as the German carmaker counted the cost of the emissions rigging scandal. VW sold 490,000 cars of its namesake brand last month, 5.3% fewer than a year earlier, while its Czech brand Škoda was down 2.7% and Spanish marque Seat dropped 3.1%. Magna's quarterly sales fall 7%, unveils share buyback

Canadian auto parts maker Magna International Inc reported a 7 per cent drop in quarterly sales, hurt by a strong U.S. dollar. However, the company raised the low end of its 2015 sales forecast to $31.3-billion from $30.9-billion.

UK car sales fall 1% in October

UK new-car registrations slipped 1.1 percent in October compared with the same month last year, and overall demand for diesel vehicles edged down in the aftermath of Volkswagen Group's emissions scandal, industry data showed. The Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders said in a statement today that car sales fell to 177,664.
