In 2011, traders at the formerly-combined companies made a "huge" bet in the futures market that wheat prices would rise, the Commodity Futures Trading Commission said in a lawsuit filed Wednesday in federal court in Illinois. The purpose of the trade was to entice sellers to lower wheat prices in the cash market, according to the CFTC.

As part of its major renovation plan, Hawaii's first Whole Foods Market store at Kahala Mall in Honolulu is opening a new bar and restaurant in May called Puka's Hole in the Mall. Tyson Foods announced in a news release that it would be "discontinuing operations" at its Buena Vista plant in May. The closure announcement, made on March 27, said the move was made "as part of ongoing efforts to increase efficiencies" in its Georgia poultry operations. "Because these changes affect our team members and their families, it was a very tough decision," said Noel White, president of Poultry for Tyson Foods, in the news release.
