The Stress and Thermal Group is part of the Mechanical Design Office and has responsibility for proving the flight worthiness of all equipment produced by the MDO. We are a friendly, supportive group of about twenty engineers with a good range of backgrounds and experience. Role Description The role is for an engineer to perform the stress and thermal analysis on telecoms satellite payloads. This will primarily involve the mechanical analysis of complex waveguide networks and discrete electronic payload devices. The candidate should be experienced in the use of FEA using Nastran for random vibration analysis, as well as linear static and thermoelastic analysis. You will be expected to become the Analysis Team Lead, work closely with the CAD Design and Project design teams, and lead a small team of subcontract stress analysts on major projects. Other responsibilities include being the signatory for the mechanical analysis aspects of waveguide and equipment design, which will take the form of electronic signoff and written report. You will be required to meet project design release targets and expected to contribute to process improvement initiatives. Mandatory Skills Proven experience of working in a similar role within an aerospace high techquality environment Proven experience with FEA analysis using NASTRAN Proven experience with dynamic vibration analysis Knowledge of Thermal analysis Proven experience using manual and automated meshing techniques Desirable Some programming experience is an advantage eg VBA, Python etc This role will involve some travel for business and as such you must be able to travel accordingly Please apply on line for this vacancy using your eRecruiting profile with your CV attached.
