Spacecraft Operations Engineer Lisa Pathfinder 1412065 Job Description We are looking for a Spacecraft Operations Engineer to work at the European Space Operations Centre ESOC. The selected engineer will assigned to the Lisa Pathfinder mission primarily, but with the possibility to support other missions within the Astronomical Missions Division. The position requires standard spacecraft operations engineering support with a focus on Flight Procedure Validation, Mission Planning and Payload Operations. The main tasks of the job include Provide independent Procedure validation of the Flight Operations Procedures to be conducted on the MCS Simulator. Payload operations preparation, validation and execution, including mission planning and commissioning plan and timeline. General SOE service provision is expected during the LEOP preparation and execution, when the payloads are not active. Understand and accurately predict behaviour of complex systems. Control Theory. Telespazio VEGA Deutschland has been supporting the European Space Industry for over 30 years, including ESA, DLR, EUMETSAT and CNES. This is a regular opportunity for an experienced Engineer to work in the domain of satellite operations operations preparations in our premises or in Darmstadt. The position is part of a Spacecraft Operations Engineering service to be provided to the Astronomical Missions Division, with initial assignment to the Lisa Pathfinder mission. The position is fulltime, unlimited and to 100 based on customer side in ESOC. Earliest starting date would be 1st of November 2014. This position can also be supported by job share by two people working part time each at 50. Application deadline for this position is 6th of September 2014. ResponsibilitiesDuties The initial focus of the service is to provide independent Procedure validation of the FOP which is issued in Sep2014. The validation is to be conducted on the LPF MCS Simulator. The validation will therefore include the end to end ground systems, in case of problems the location of the issue should be identified and reported using the defined channels. After procedure validation, the main activity areas are Payload operations preparation, validation and execution, including mission planning and commissioning plan and timeline. More general SOE service provision is expected during the LEOP preparation and execution, when the payloads are not active, details will be coordinated with the line manager nearer the time. It is expected that Lisa Pathfinder will launched in Q32015, conduct commissioning in Q42015 and be decommissioned in Q32016. QualificationsExperience University or similar degree in aerospace, electronics or physics Minimum of 2 years experiences with operational aspects of satellites.
