Re/code reported that, despite market research indicating many customers are dissatisfied with current in-flight WiFi offerings, the company has decided to sink resources elsewhere , in particular expanding internationally , and perhaps in a bid for DirecTV .

On Friday, the carrier announced a $1.7 billion acquisition of Mexican operator Iusacell, AT&T's second major acquisition this year following a $48.5 billion bid for satellite operator DirecTV.
