CO2 Laser Lenses penetrate thick wood.

2014-08-08 15:43:26| Industrial Newsroom - All News for Today

Suited for industrial laser wood engraving, especially plywood, CO2 Laser Lenses feature 4 in. focal lengths to provide deeper stock removal from ½–1 ½ in. (depending upon laser power and wood type). Lenses offer 40-20 scratch-dig surface quality, <1/40th wave sphericity, and provide <0.2% total absorption values. Optimized for use @ 10.6 micron in engraving systems where depth-of-field is critical, these OEM quality, drop-in replacement lenses meet OEM and ISO-10110 specifications. CO2 capture from air could ripen into a global warming solution, researcher predicts

2014-08-08 10:00:00| Climate Ark Climate Change & Global Warming Newsfeed

ClimateWire: Technologies for capturing carbon dioxide directly from the ambient air will play a key role in reversing the buildup of greenhouse gases if the process can gain wider acceptance, according to a Columbia University scientist. "It's not a question of if air capture technology will be adopted; it's a question of when," said Klaus Lackner, director of the Lenfest Center for Sustainable Energy at Columbia University's Earth Institute. Sunderbans trees losing capacity to absorb CO2?

2014-08-04 16:00:00| Climate Ark Climate Change & Global Warming Newsfeed

Press Trust of India: The vast mangrove forest in the Sunderbans is fast losing its capacity to absorb carbon dioxide, one of the main greenhouse gases, from the atmosphere due to rise in the salinity of water, rampant deforestation and pollution, a study has found. The mangrove forest, marsh grass, phytoplanktons, molluscus and other coastal vegetation in the world's largest delta are the natural absorbers of carbon dioxide (CO2), according to the study. The stored carbon in the plants is known as "Blue Carbons"....

Using CO2 Emissions to Pump Oil May Help the Climate

2014-07-31 22:02:00| Climate Ark Climate Change & Global Warming Newsfeed

Climate Central: Carbon capture and storage is often talked about as a way to keep major polluters' carbon dioxide emissions out of the atmosphere by tucking them away safely underground forever. But carbon capture and storage, or CCS, could be used more often in a rather counterintuitive way: To produce crude oil, which releases its own CO2 emissions when it's burned, helping drive climate change. Here's the twist: Experts say producing more oil using CO2 captured from coal-fired power plants may actually...
