South Africa has been ranked as the most promising market for consumer spending by the middle-class, pipping Africa's biggest economy, Nigeria, which is ranked second, findings of a survey showed this week. The survey, conducted by Agility Emerging Markets Logistics, also ranked Kenya and Ghana in third and fourth positions respectively, according to executives surveyed under the index.

Takata Corp. fell to the lowest in almost seven years after its U.S. regulator said recalls of the company's air bags would expand to millions more vehicles following a 10th death linked to the devices. The shares declined 11 percent to 601 yen as of 10:42 a.m. in Tokyo trading, headed for the lowest price since March 2009.
