Massive emission reductions needed by 2050 to limit climate change damage, reports UN
2014-08-11 13:09:00| Climate Ark Climate Change & Global Warming Newsfeed
Blue and Green: A draft analysis of three UN scientific reports regarding global warming has concluded that by the year 2050, greenhouse gas emissions must be drastically reduced in order to avoid climate catastrophe. The report suggests that reduction targets need to be set at between 40% and 70% lower than 2010 levels in order to avoid long lasting global warming damage. Initially seen by Reuters, the report, published by the UNs Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC), comes ahead of a climate...

Massive red tide bloom washing off Florida's Gulf of Mexico coast
2014-08-07 23:01:00| Climate Ark Climate Change & Global Warming Newsfeed
Reuters: The largest red tide bloom seen in Florida in nearly a decade has killed thousands of fish in the Gulf of Mexico and may pose a greater health threat if it washes ashore as expected in the next two weeks, researchers said on Thursday. The patchy bloom stretches from the curve of the Panhandle to the central Tampa Bay region. It measures approximately 80 miles (130 km) long by 50 miles (80 km) wide. Massive, undetectable security flaw found in USB: Its time to get your PS/2 keyboard out of the cupboard
2014-07-31 17:38:30| Extremetech
Security researchers have found a fundamental flaw that affects almost every USB device. This flaw is so serious that, now that it has been revealed, you probably shouldn't plug a USB device into your computer ever again. There are no known effective defenses against this variety of USB attack. The USB IF itself notes that your only defense against this new attack vector is to only use USB devices that you 100% trust -- but even then, as we'll outline below, this won't always protect you.
