Tele2 mobile service revenue grows 10% in Q1

(Telecompaper) Tele2 reported first-quarter sales up 6 percent to SEK 6.512 billion, led by 10 percent growth in mobile service revenue. Revenue was also helped by currency effects and rose just 2 percent excluding forex. EBITDA increased 5 percent (or 2 percent excl forex) to SEK 1.428 billion, while net profit fell 12 percent to SEK 517 million. The results are based on continuing operations and exclude the SEK 1.8 billion capital gain realised on the sale of Tele2 Norway. Tele2 also started a 'challenger' programme in Q4 with the aim of increasing productivity and saving SEK 1 billion annually by 2018. This resulted in SEK 14 million in restructuring costs in Q1 and led to a 27 percent fall in EBIT to SEK 702 million.

BSkyB grows revenue 6% to GBP 1.93 bln in 1st fiscal quarter

(Telecompaper) Pay TV and broadband operator BskyB (Sky) reported revenue up 6 percent to GBP 1.93 billion in its fiscal first quarter to 30 September, compared with GBP 1.82 billion in the year-earlier period, as it added 51,000 new retail customers to take the total to 11.5 million. The revenue increase benefited from one month's price rise in September and a growing contribution rom transactional revenue, with Sky Store revenue up 125 percent. Wholesale revenue increased by 9 percent to GBP 105 million in the fiscal first quarter from GBP 96 million a year earlier. Advertising revenue increased by 6 percent to GBP 108 million from GBP 102 million, due to its rising market share and a first time contribution from AdSmart. The top line growth translated into higher profits, with EBITDA rising 6 percent to GBP 417 million. Operating profit increased by 11 percent to GBP 316 million from GBP 285 million. Net profit reached GBP 608 million, including a GBP 429 million gain from the sale of a 6.4 percent stake in ITV, compared to GBP 245 million in the first quarter of the last fiscal year. EPS grew by 8 percent to GBP 0.141 from GBP 0.13 over the same period.

PepsiCo's India revenue grows in double digits

PepsiCo India's revenue grew in double digits for nine months ended September 6, 2014 making the country amongst the fastest growing emerging markets for the global beverages and snack giant. "Our developing and emerging markets business has proven to be resilient with high single-digit organic revenue growth year-to-date, including double-digit growth in Egypt and India," PepsiCo Inc Chairman and CEO Indra Nooyi said in an earnings call.
