Early phase CRO Charles River Laboratories will lay off between 26 and 30 employees following the US National Cancer Institute's decision to terminate a contract in which the company supplied rodent models for cancer research. A southeast Nebraska agriculture manufacturing plant will close part of its operations and eliminate more than half its workforce by November. Bill Cornmesser, senior U.S. operations manager for Agrium Inc., based in Calgary, Alberta, said the fertilizer company is exiting the zinc sulfate market, which affects the Fairbury operation.
