BIO and Washington Biotechnology & Biomedical Association (WBBA) commend Governor Jay Inslee for signing Bill 5935, which creates pathway for substitution of interchangeable biologic medicines. Policies outlined in said bill align with BIO's principles on biologic substitution, and BIO president and CEO Jim Greenwood specifically noted included "communication on all biologic medicines dispensed in order to maintain a consistent and complete medical record."

BIO and Georgia Bio (GaBio) commended Governor Nathan Deal for signing Senate Bill 51, which creates pathway for substitution of interchangeable biologic medicines. Policies outlined in said bill align with BIO's principles on biologic substitution. Citing bill's merits and noting broad support, BIO's Jim Greenwood said that signing this bill into law adds Georgia to states taking "a leadership position" in allowing retail pharmacies to substitute interchangeable biologic medicines."

BIO commends Utah Governor Gary Herbert for signing into law important legislation that serves to update existing Utah laws governing substitution of interchangeable biologic medicines. House Bill 279 represents a significant step forward, ensures transparency and communication between patients and their treatment teams, and is fully consistent with BIO’s principles on biologic substitution. Therefore, BIO supports this legislation and is pleased to see Governor Herbert sign the bill into law.
