Reactions run high on air permit for Intel expansion

Intel is likely to win approval for the state air quality permit it is seeking for its expansion in Hillsboro despite mostly negative reactions at a public hearing last week. Officials at the Department of Environmental Quality say they will decide whether to modify conditions for the proposed permit, one of two that the semiconductor manufacturer will need for planned expansions at its plants in Aloha and Hillsboro.

Air traffic control in general aviation (GA) environment seminar will be presented by NTSB on December 12, 2015 in Ashburn, VA. Local FAA Air Traffic Controllers will discuss policies and procedures important for pilots to understand while navigating through airspace in Washington DC terminal area and discuss phraseology/communication procedures needed to navigate local airspace. NTSB Board Member Earl Weener will be featured presenter, and attendees will also hear from NTSB investigators.

Takata air bag crisis hands Autoliv chance to go big in Japan

Autoliv is the world's top maker of equipment such as air bags and seat belts, but it has struggled to break the ties between Japanese carmakers and main supplier Takata in a country where the "keiretsu" corporate culture sees businesses closely bound together in relationships cultivated over decades. The ground has shifted, however; a string of Japanese carmakers have ditched Takata's air bag inflators in recent days after U.S. regulators said they used a chemical that they suspect causes the bag to explode with too much force, spraying metal shards into the car.
