Moderate air quality forecast today for Hampton Roads

Air quality today could be moderate in Hampton Roads with temperatures expected to be in the mid-90s and a heat index above 100. Officials with the state Department of Environmental Quality are forecasting moderate air quality today because of fine particulates in the air along with ozone, also known as smog.

According to poll released by NAM, 67% of Americans rate their local air quality as excellent or good and more than half oppose stricter federal environmental regulations on local businesses. Poll was conducted to gauge public opinion as federal government considers EPA's proposed ozone rule. More than 76% of respondents believe that stricter federal air quality regulations would increase their taxes, and 65% believe they would make it harder for local businesses to start or grow.
