The second of two men charged in the horrific 2014 carjacking and high-speed chase that killed a mother and her three children in North Philadelphia, pleaded guilty Tuesday and was sentenced to 50 to 100 years in prison. Cornelius Crawford, 25, of Logan, apologized for his role in the July 25, 2014, crimes, which began when he an an accomplice carjacked and sexually assaulted a real estate agent and ended at Allegheny and Germantown Avenues with the deaths of Keisha Williams and children Keiearra Williams, 15; Thomas Joseph Reed, 10; and Terrence Williams, 7. The speeding stolen Toyota 4Runner plowed into the family as they sold fruit to raise money for their church.

Reno police say a vehicle crashed into an electric pole near the intersection of Plumb and Arlington causing power outages and lane closures in the area. At around 3:18 a.m., officers say a driver fell asleep at the wheel and crashed into an electric pole.

The shrinking of the oil industry picked up speed this week after Halliburton Co. announced it's cutting another 5,000 workers, or 8 percent of its remaining global workforce, to survive a lengthening crude market downturn.
