Yale Environment 360: The United States can reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 80 percent by 2050, using existing or near-commercial technologies, according to researchers with the Deep Decarbonization Pathways Project. The study analyzed scenarios with four types of decarbonized electricity: renewable energy, nuclear energy, fossil fuel with carbon capture and storage, and a mixed case. NIKE, Inc. Announces 17 Percent Increase in Quarterly Dividend

NIKE, Inc. announced today that its Board of Directors has declared a quarterly cash dividend of $0.28 per share on the Company's outstanding Class A and Class B Common Stock. The $0.28 quarterly dividend, which is payable on January 5, 2015, to shareholders of record at the close of business on December 15, 2014, represents a 17 percent increase over the previous quarterly rate of $0.24.

Whirlpool Report States TCE Contamination Down 80 Percent In Fort Smith

A new quarterly report released by the Whirlpool corporation in Fort Smith this week states groundwater contamination is down 80 percent in all but two areas. The third quarter report credits "the success of the second oxidant injection" efforts in reducing the amount of trichloroethylene, or TCE, in the groundwater and soil near the former Whirlpool manufacturing facility in Fort Smith.

Nature Valley granola bars, now with 100 percent less lawsuit

General Mills Inc. has settled a lawsuit from an advocacy group over the company's labeling of its Nature Valley granola bars as "100 percent natural." The Pioneer Press reports that the Center for Science in the Public Interest said in a statement Tuesday that Golden Valley-based General Mills won't use the term "100 percent natural" to market granola bars that use ingredients like high-fructose corn syrup or maltodextrin.
