Despite some blips in the national economy and falling oil prices, new car and truck sales increased 2.8 percent last year in the Dallas-Fort Worth area. Lee Chapman, president of the Dallas-Fort Worth Metropolitan New Car Dealers Association, said the year-long decline in oil prices probably had a slight effect on new-vehicle sales.

U.S. toy sales grew by 6.7 percent in 2015*, according to retail sales data from global information company The NPD Group , generating $19.4 billion and marking one of the strongest performances the industry has seen in a number of years. The toy industry had an incredible year and, as is typically the case, there isnt one reason; there were a number of factors coming together to grow the industry nearly 7 percent in 2015, said Juli Lennett , U.S. toys industry analyst, The NPD Group.

Apple supplier TSMC raises capex at least 10 percent partly on

Apple Inc supplier Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co Ltd on Thursday said it would raise capital expenditure by at least 10 percent from 2015's four-year low, partly driven by growth in the global smartphone market. The world's biggest contract chipmaker estimated 2016 capex of $9 billion to $10 billion and said it expects global smartphone shipments to expand 8 percent.
