With apparel chains and brands canceling their orders, however, the global cotton use could fall by 25% this season, meaning that prices will stay at very low levels. Cotton futures have stopped falling heavily in New York, with the nearby contract staying firm above 50 cents. The global cotton use is expected to drop sharply, however, meaning that prices should stay very depressed for months. Cotton prices may later rebound spectacularly, as already observed in the past.
