Aug 14 U.S. authorities are asking counterparts in Europe to seize about $1 billion in assets related to an investigation into three telecom companies and intermediaries close to the daughter of Uzbekistan's president, the Wall Street Journal reported on Friday. Vimpelcom Ltd, Mobile TeleSystems and TeliaSonera AB are under scrutiny from the U.S. Department of Justice and the Securities and Exchange Commission, as well as some authorities in Europe.

Security experts hack into moving Jeep and seize control of car

Hackers have managed to take control of a car and crash it into a ditch while sitting on their sofa several kilometres away. The most disturbing manoeuvre came when they cut the Jeep's brakes, leaving me frantically pumping the pedal as the 2-ton SUV slid uncontrollably into a ditch.

U.S. Can Seize $300 Million Allegedly Linked To Russian-Uzbek Bribery Scandal

A report by an investigative journalism organization says that Gulnara Karimova, the eldest daughter of Uzbek President Islam Karimov, may have used bribery, extortion, and influence-peddling to acquire some $1 billion worth of shares and payments from tecommunications companies. The U.S. Justice Department has won permission to seize $300 million allegedly linked to a Russian-Uzbek bribery scandal involving a close relative of Uzbek President Islam Karimov.
