(Telecompaper) Facebook reported a stronger increase in costs than revenue in the fourth quarter, leading to a slowdown in its profit growth. Revenues were up 25 percent to USD 21.1 billion, while operating costs jumped 34 percent to USD 12.2 billion. Along with a sharp increase in taxes, net profit rose just 7 percent, to USD 7.3 billion or USD 2.56 per share.

(Telecompaper) Telenor has increased its dividend by 4 percent to NOK 8.7 per share, despite a drop in net profit over the past year due to divestments and provisions. Cash flow also turned negative after the acquisition of DNA in Finland. Underlying EBITDA fell 2.6 percent, in line with its outlook, and Telenor said it aims to return the figure to growth of 2-4 percent in the new year. Organic revenue growth is estimated flat to 2 percent higher this year, after a 1.2 percent rise in 2019.

Austrian cellulosic fibre producer Lenzing has reported a drop in its preliminary 2019 figures with both earnings and revenue affected by lower selling prices for standard viscose and the write-off of engineering costs related to its mothballed US lyocell expansion project.
