For the location in Darmstadt Germany we are looking for a MTG Integration, Verification Validation Support Engineer at EUMETSAT. Tasks The Meteosat Third Generation MTG programme was approved by the EUMETSAT Member States and is under development to continue and enhance the services of the EUMETSAT satellite systems from the geostationary orbit in the 2020 time frame. The MTG system foresees 4 satellites MTGI1 to MTGI4 for imaging missions and 2 satellites MTGS1 and MTGS2 for sounding missions flying in a constellation of two imaging and one sounding satellite, relevant launch and LEOP services, and the Ground Segment GS to provide mission control and data acquisition, processing and distribution. This Position is to porvide consultancy services to support GS and system integration, verification and validation IVV activities for MTGI1 and S1 satellites. EUMETSAT is responsible for IVV at Ground Segment and System levels. At a lower level, e.g. ground segment facility level, IVV activities are performed by the relevant contractors and results subject to review and acceptance by EUMETSAT. At Space Segment level, IVV activities are conducted by the space segment industrial consortium as part of the ESA MTG Programme for the protoflight MTGI1 and S1 satellites, and implemented in line with the relevant ESA EUMETSAT Cooperation Agreement. The bulk of ground segment and system IVV work is related to the integration and preparation of the Ground Segment GS and System for the launch, commissioning and operations of the MTGI1 and S1 satellites, nominally between 2016 and 2021. The following phases of MTG IVV need to be supported Integration of facilities and MMEs into the GS, by verification of relevant interfaces, followed by verification of GS requirements Integration of the GS with the Space Segment, the SAFs and the LEOP service by verification of relevant interfaces, followed by verification of system requirements System operational validation. Within those phases, the support service is required to perform the following tasks Finalisation of test specifications Generation of test procedures Identification of required test tools and data Adaptation or development of required test tools and data Preparation, execution of the IVV tests, analysis of test results and support to the verification process Management of the performance of above tasks. Tasks and Activities The scope of work will include Lead and coordinate the IVV activities related to the data processing chain, including Production of test data sets using system tools Risk analyses and implementation mitigation actions related to the allocated responsibility areas Production of the Test Specifications related to the data processing chain Leading the test execution Analyse the test results in coordination with the relevant experts Contribute to the Test Readiness Review, Test Review Board and Anomaly Review Maintain the traceability and provide verification records, as part of the requirements verification control activity Provide a clear overview of the required integration, verification and validation needs of the data processing chain, following familiarisation with instrument performance, data processing and dataset Support the consolidation of the system requirements verification plans with focus to the data processing chain, including the definition of the test cases and scenarios as well as relevant testing tools Support to the procurement activities for aspects related to the data processing chain Support the assessment of readiness for the launch and commissioning of the satellites and of the entire system As part of the preparation for operations, support the System Validation Tests and Operational Scenario Validation for the data processing chain. Skills and Experience The following skills and experience are mandatory University degree or equivalent in a relevant discipline e.g. engineering. At least 5 years of experience in Integration, Verification and Validation IVV activities for Earth Observation Systems Satellite and Ground Proven experience in data processing systems development including testing preparation and execution and use of simulators or tools to generate test data Proven experience in the analysis reporting of test results run on the data processing chain versus associated requirements Proven experience in data processing aspects for Earth observation remote sensing satellite systems Proven experience in project management Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with a proven ability to apply these to interactions within a team and between teams.
