Vallejo City Council set to approve contracts with Grocery Outlet, baseball team

The council will mull over an agreement between the city and the Vallejo Admirals Baseball Club, which would allow the players to reside at Fire Station Number 6 from May to September. Per the agreement, the team would be able to sleep and prepare meals at the station, while having access to a refrigerator, microwave, stove, oven, workout area, laundry facilities and living/sleeping areas with televisions.

Whole Foods Market, the upscale grocery store sometimes derided as 'Whole Paycheck' for its prices, is planning to launch a new chain of lower-priced stores for people who can't otherwise afford to buy its premium and organic food. The Austin-based company said on Wednesday that stores in the new format would offer a "curated" selection and have a simpler design to cater to people who want Whole Foods quality without paying Whole Food prices, particularly customers in their 20s and 30s.

Loblaw president says weak dollar means higher prices at the grocery store

Customers shopping for groceries should prepare to pay more as stores pass on the rising costs of the weak Canadian dollar, Loblaw Companies president Galen Weston Jr. said Wednesday. In a corporate earnings call, Weston said international suppliers are putting pressure on the company to raise prices to offset the fall in the Canadian dollar, which has lost more than a 10th of its value against the greenback since July 2014.
