Slovak regulator cancels auction of 1,800 MHz frequencies

(Telecompaper) Slovak regulator RU has cancelled the auction for frequencies in the 1,800 MHz band, arguing a significant change in circumstances since the call for tenders was announced. The invitation was published on 06 April and the applications were accepted until 09 May. On 10 May, RU cancelled the auction, informed the participants about the cancellation, returned their bids in unopened envelopes and returned the paid vadiums to their accounts.

Ukraine completes LTE tender for 1,800 MHz band, Kyivstar tops bids

(Telecompaper) Ukrainian national telecommunications regulator NKRZI has completed a tender on licences for LTE services in the 1,800 MHz band. The operators will be able to use the bands in all regions for 15 years. The regulator recently completed the first tender on LTE bands in the country, distributing licences for the 2,600 MHz band.
Net1 Sweden plans M2M expansion after beating Telia in 450 MHz licence auction

(Telecompaper) Ice Group subsidiary Netett Sverige (Net1) said it plans to expand its M2M services after winning the frequency auction for the national licence of 2 x 5 MHz in the 450 MHz band (452.5 to 457.5 MHz and 462.5 to 467.5 MHz). Sector regulator PTS said there were two approved bids, from Net1 and Telia Company. Net1 had offered SEK 91.30 million and Telia offered SEK 40.17 million.

Paraguay raises USD 85 mln in 700 MHz spectrum auction

(Telecompaper) Paraguayan regulator Conatel announced that its first tender for spectrum in the 700 MHz band raised a total of USD 84.5 million, slightly above the base price. Tigo (Millicom) acquired three of the seven available blocks of 2x5 MHz spectrum for USD 36 million, while Claro (America Movil) acquired two blocks for USD 24 million and Nucleo (Personal) added another two blocks for the same figure. All operators have pledged to use the spectrum to continue expanding their 4G networks in Paraguay.

Greece raises EUR 201 mln in 1,800 MHz auction

(Telecompaper) Greek telecommunications authority EETT secured EUR 201.450 million through the allocation of frequencies in the 1,800 MHz band. Cosmote bought the largest share of spectrum for EUR 83.150 million, while Vodafone Greece and Wind Hellas paid EUR 59.2 million and EUR 59.1 million respectively for their licences.
