More quakes reported near fracking well
2014-03-14 05:00:00| Climate Ark Climate Change & Global Warming Newsfeed
Columbus Dispatch: Geologists say there were 12 earthquakes near an active fracking well in northeastern Ohio four last week and eight this week. The earthquakes all have similar wavelengths, said Won Young-Kim, a senior scientist who runs a regional earthquake monitoring network at Columbia University in New York. Google Fiber looks to bring gigabit internet to 34 new cities, Comcast quakes in its boots
2014-02-19 22:47:49| Extremetech
At long last, Google has announced that it intends to roll out Google Fiber to 34 new cities in nine metropolitan areas, including San Antonio, San Jose, Portland, Phoenix, and Atlanta. Google Fiber has been a big success so far, offering true gigabit (1000 megabits per second) speeds to the populace of Kansas City and Provo, and soon Austin. Hopefully this expansion to 34 new cities is a sign that Google eventually intends to bring Google Fiber to larger/denser metropolitan areas, like New York City, San Francisco, and Chicago.

University studies if quakes in North Texas linked to fracking
2014-02-08 00:50:00| Climate Ark Climate Change & Global Warming Newsfeed
Reuters: A team of scientists has launched a study of seismic activity in North Texas to determine if fracking may be the cause of a series of earthquakes that have rattled two towns in the region since November. The seismic activity in Azle and Reno, northwest of Fort Worth, has national implications, with opponents of hydraulic fracturing, or fracking, saying what is happening in the towns points to the dangers of the energy source extraction method. "It's important that we don't rush to conclusions,"...
