T-Mobile to launch OTT TV service in Netherlands
2015-12-14 15:43:00| Telecompaper Headlines
(Telecompaper) T-Mobile Netherlands is entering the TV market with a new online 'skinny bundle'. The company, which last year exited the Dutch fixed market with the sale of ISP Online, said consumers are tired of having to pay for oversized TV subscriptions. Its new Knippr service will offer a basic plan of live channels, and customers can add more channels as they wish. The service works with any internet connection and does not require the customer to take a broadband or fixed-line subscription from T-Mobile, nor do they need have a mobile plan with the operator. T-Mobile said it's in talks with almost all the major broadcasters and online video services to offer customers the widest possible choice for their package. The exact content and prices will be announced in the spring when the service is expected to launch. In early 2016 a beta version of Knippr will be tested, and consumers can register their interest to participate in the trial.

Vodafone Netherlands sues KPN over delay in fixed access
2015-12-10 08:40:00| Telecompaper Headlines
(Telecompaper) Vodafone Netherlands is suing KPN for anti-competitive behaviour, saying the Dutch incumbent prevented Vodafone from entering the triple-play market for several years. Vodafone claims EUR 115 million in damages due to KPN obstructing its access to key network technology in 2011-2014 and hence slowing the launch of the 'Vodafone Thuis' (Vodafone at Home) offer. Vodafone filed its suit at the court in The Hague, claiming KPN abused its dominant market position, and was able to build up a significant customer base in the triple-play market in recent years while it kept rivals out of the market. Vodafone said KPN repeatedly did not meet its obligations to deliver technology needed for Vodafone's fixed offer. KPN owns the only DSL network in the country and the main FTTH network.
