Less than a year after first approving the use of Enlist Duo , manufactured by Dow Chemical Co., the EPA told a federal appeals court that it is reversing its decision while it evaluates new information about possible harm from the chemical's use. "The agency has received new information from Dow AgroSciences - the registrant of Enlist Duo - that suggests two active ingredients could result in greater toxicity to non-target plants," EPA spokeswoman Monica Lee said in a statement following a Wednesday court filing in the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals.

Contrary to industry claims, horizontal gene transfer and DNA absorption of GM crops bearing the artificially engineered Bt trait can and does occur.

There`s some controversy about this:...

EPA Proposes Stronger Standards for people applying pesticides.

2015-08-10 14:31:10| Industrial Newsroom - All News for Today

To reduce harm from misapplication of toxic pesticides and ensure consistent protection among states, U.S. EPA proposes stronger standards for those who apply restricted-use pesticides.  People who apply such pesticides will be required to be at least 18 years old, and certifications would have to be renewed every 3 years. Additional efforts include requiring additional specialized licensing for certain methods and training for those working under supervision of certified applicators.
