Officials: Notice about water testing frequency, not quality

Tyler residents received a letter last week about city tap water, but officials said the notice regards the frequency of water testing, not the quality of water. The notice, required by the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality, stated the city has not completed all mandatory lead and copper testing since 2012, when it moved from being required to test the water every three years to annually.

German govt announces 700 MHz frequency auction

(Telecompaper) The German government has formally announced its decision to auction off two blocks of 30 MHz frequencies in the 700 MHz band for mobile broadband. Mobile broadband using this spectrum will be phased in starting from 2017. The auction will take place at the same time as the auction for 900 MHz and 1800 MHz frequencies whose permits expire at the end of 2016. The blocks will be split into lots, each lot consisting of two paired blocks of 5 MHz in the 700 MHz band. Minimum bids will be based on fees set in 2013, namely EUR 75 million per lot.

Deutsche Telekom unit T-Mobile Austria has won a round in a legal battle over mobile frequencies as it tries to get bandwidth in a coveted range, it said on Thursday. T-Mobile said the European Court of Justice had sided with it in a dispute over whether T-Mobile should have a say in splitting up frequencies after Hutchison Whampoa's local unit 3 took over Orange Austria in 2012.
