Canadian co. proposes Orleans expansion, 200 jobs

Pride Pak Canada Ltd. has expressed interest in the Worthington Cylinders BernzOmatic manufacturing site in Orleans County, which has sat vacant since last May. The Mississaugua-based fruit and vegetable processing company would invest more than $9 million to acquire and develop the property, which includes more than 30 acres of land, Officials said. The company also would buy new machinery and hire up to 200 within the first five years of operation.

Worthington Industries Inc. is cutting 555 employees from its work force, including more than 100 in Ohio, and closing a facility in South Carolina. The Columbus steel processor said Tuesday that 245 employees in its oil and gas division will be part of the reduction, and 310 employees in its Florence, South Carolina, engineered cabs facility will lose their jobs as part of that plant's closure.
