A San Diego Superior Court judge ruled Friday that Genuine Parts Company, the corporate owner of NAPA Auto Parts, must pay $338,000 for overcharging customers. Genuine Parts Company allegedly charged customers too much by using register scanners that rang up inaccurate prices.

Advance Auto Parts to cut dozens of corporate jobs in North Carolina

Advance Auto spokeswoman Laurie Stacy tells media outlets that 50 jobs will be eliminated in Roanoke and 50 jobs will be cut in Raleigh, North Carolina, at the end of August. Stacy said Monday that the cuts will eliminate duplication.

Report: Advance Auto Parts to lay off 50 people in Raleigh, 50 at Roanoke HQ

Multiple media outlets are reporting that auto parts retailer Advance Auto Parts Inc. is planning to cut 100 corporate jobs from its headquarters in Roanoke, as well as from the company's corporate campus in Raleigh. According to the newspaper, 50 of the jobs will be cut from the company's headquarters in Roanoke where it currently employs about 850 people.

The settlement only binds Genuine Parts Company, the Atlanta-based company that owns and operates many NAPA stores in California, and does not apply to independently-owned NAPA stores. The lawsuit, in San Diego Superior Court, was filed after authorities from the county Department of Agriculture, Weights and Measures found several instances of customers being charged a higher price at cash registers than what was posted at the store displays, prosecutors said.
