2015-04-29 09:20:00| Telecompaper Headlines
(Telecompaper) Twitter reported first-quarter revenues of USD 436 million, up 74 percent from the year-earlier figure but lower than the company's guidance of USD 440-450 million. Advertising revenues came in at USD 388 million, up 72 percent from last year's figure of USD 226 million, of which some 89 percent came from mobile accounts. The messaging company's net loss widened to USD 162 million or 25 cents a share from USD 132 million or 23 cents a share a year ago. Adjusted EBITDA exceeded the company's target for Q1, coming in at USD 104 million, up from USD 37 million a year ago, representing an adjusted EBITDA margin of 24 percent. The company had a total of 302 million monthly active users in March, an increase of 18 percent year-on-year, after adding just 14 million users over the last quarter. Around 80 percent of users were on mobile. The company was forced to lower its guidance for annual revenue from USD 2.30 billion to around USD 2.17 2.27 billion, saying that its direct response products were likely to keep underperforming throughout the year.

Intel cuts Q1 revenue outlook on weak PC market
2015-03-12 15:10:00| Telecompaper Headlines
(Telecompaper) Intel has cut its outlook for revenues in the first quarter, citing a weak business market for desktop PCs and supply chain shortages in the PC industry. The world's largest chipmaker now expects revenue of USD 12.8 billion for Q1, plus or minus USD 300 million, compared to the previous forecast of USD 13.7 billion, plus or minus USD 500 million. Intel said the weaker market may be due to slower Windows XP replacements in the small business market than previously expected, as well as the "increasingly challenging macroeconomic and currency conditions, particularly in Europe". The company noted that its data centre business is meeting expectations. Intel maintained its outlook for a gross margin of around 60 percent, as the lower PC volumes were offset by higher average selling prices. It will update its longer-term guidance when it reports quarterly results 14 April.

TeliaSonera lowers revenue outlook on tough Spanish market
2014-07-17 09:29:00| Telecompaper Headlines
(Telecompaper) TeliaSonera has cut its full-year revenue outlook, due mainly to lower handset sales at its Spanish unit Yoigo. While it previously expected flat organic sales this year, it now sees a small drop compared to 2013. Organic sales fell 1.2 percent in the second quarter and were down 1.5 percent in the first half of the year. TeliaSonera still expects to maintain a stable EBITDA margin of 35 percent and spend around 15 percent of revenues on capital expenditure. In the second quarter, both reported and organic revenues (excluding currency effects, disposals and acquisitions) fell 1.2 percent to SEK 25.02 billion, due mainly to lower equipment sales. Organic service revenues were down just 0.4 percent. Adjusted EBITDA for the group fell 1.0 percent to SEK 8.84 billion, resulting in a stable margin of 35.3 percent. Due to lower income as well as asset writedowns at its Eurasia activities, net profit fell 12.1 percent to SEK 3.55 billion.
